It’s not all bad, it appears the City Treasurer’s Office is still working on our behalf. The City Treasurer is partnering with banks and organizations to bring grants and opportunities to our neighborhoods. The Treasurer’s Office has a projected return of $40 million dollars which will go toward city services.
Now for the bad news, since the Laquan McDonald murder we have had more than five hundred shooting deaths in Chicago. We also have 25% unemployment, 20,000 troubled buildings, and 20,000 foreclosures. As taxpayers we can’t afford the high cost of Injustice, Disinvestment, and Inequality.
Cook County spends more than $1 billion on jails, court systems and $71 million on juvenile detention centers. While Chicago spends $800 million on police brutality settlements. When will we, the African American community turn our city around?
